Students must take an average of15 credit hours per semester to complete an undergraduate program within four years or eight semesters. For financial aid purposes, 12 credit hours is the full-time standard for the semester. Students who average less than 15 credits per semester must take summer courses in order to complete an undergraduate degree in four years. Extensions of F-1 visa 1- 20 records will not be granted to students who average less than 15 credits hours per semester.This may mean international students who do not average 15 credits or more per semester, or who take an excessive number of breaks, might not be able to complete their degree before their I-20 expires. Students should work with their advisor to ensure they can complete their program within the allotted timeframe.
The average course load for a CHU undergraduate student is 15-18 credit hours per semester. During Fall and Spring semesters, students with at least a 3.25 CGPA may enroll in up to 21 credit hours. Students must complete at least 12 credit hours at CHU before they can qualify for a course overload in excess of 18 credit hours in a semester.
