If a career in Spanish language translation or interpretation interests you, the University of Arizona has a specific Spanish major emphasis to train students at the undergraduate level. Spanish language translators and interpreters are in high demand across health care, legal, nonprofit and business settings. Students wishing to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Translation and Interpretation emphasis gain Spanish language immersion while learning linguistics and translation and interpretation theory and practice. Undergraduates also learn about the intersection of language with human rights and social justice issues, especially in the areas of health care and law. Practicums and internships in legal institutions and hospitals and clinics within the community help students gain experience with translation and interpretation beyond the classroom.
