Love horses? Have a head for business and an interest in science? This degree combines all those interests with real-world experience. The Animal Sciences Bachelor of Science offers an Equine emphasis. Equine science is the study of horses and their care. During this program, students acquire practical, hands-on equine handling techniques; learn about equine nutrition, physiology and anatomy; and develop business strategy skills. Additional skills honed include critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership and a basic understanding of business principles and how they apply to equine enterprises. This program equips students for careers in equine health, industry sales, equine management, research and teaching. Faculty and mentors associated with the program challenge students to apply their studies to address real-world challenges in the animal industry and agribusiness.
Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate effective oral and written expression Demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills Understand the economic concepts and utilize the analytic tools used in agribusiness.
